Harrington Oboe School of Vermont Site

Website Design
Technical writing consists of many skills, from writing procedures and copy editing to usability testing and content creation. With such a wide range of competencies, it is not surprising that designing a website from scratch would be among them.

In order to create a website, my first step was creating the persona for the fictional business owner of the site. Given a set of fifteen or so prompts to choose from, Georgia Harrington, oboist, and private music instructor, was “born.” From the three “facts” known about her, I created a fleshed-out persona, complete with backstory and motivations, with dreams of bringing her music instruction into the twenty-first century via a shiny new website.

Crafting a professional and polished website was a lengthy and creative process, requiring creative writing, research, wireframing, and, finally, website design. "Georgia’s” website for private oboe instruction was sleek and informative, thanks to the service excerpts, carefully curated images, easily navigable site layout, and testimonials included throughout.

Bringing a vision from concept to fruition based on customers’ or employers’ needs is just one of the many skills I have developed and honed throughout my degree program.
